Halfway through the event, hundreds of families came through the lot and plenty of candy is still left. “We were told to expect around at least a thousand people,” senior Haylie George said. The club had been proactive, sending out reminders for members to bring extra bags and their efforts paid off. By the end of the morning, they had more than enough candy for all the trick-or-treaters.

As the festivities wound down, freshman Paulie Young, Morgan Aron, Lawson O’Donnell, Lucy Burke and Sari Roseman spend a moment capturing memories of the event. They took their photo on the dance floor where children were dancing and singing earlier. This was their first trunk-or-treat volunteer experience.

Sophomores Jackson Ray and Sienna Bailey smile as they prepare to hand out candy from their decorated trunk, which they spent the night before transforming into a Halloween wonderland. “Decorating the cars adds a lot to the day,” Bailey said. “The kids love the spooky decorations, and it makes them more excited to come to our trunk.”

I had the best time handing out candy and talking to the kids and seeing all their costumes,” Essalih said.

Senior Haylie George, dressed as Superman, distributes candy to children participating in the annual Trunk-or-Trunk event at Kids’ Meals Houston. “I love coming to the event every year,” George said. “It’s always so fun to see how happy the kids are, especially since many of them are trick or treating for the first time.” A club member since her sophomore year, this is George’s third time attending the event.

Sign-ups open for Coffee House 2017 performances

Coffee House 2016 was well-attended by Upper School students and faculty.

The second Kinkaid Coffee House will take place in the Student Center on Saturday evening, February 4, 2017, from 7-10pm.

Planned and organized by the Fine Arts Leadership Board, the Kinkaid Coffee House was inspired by a similar that takes place at the annual ISAS(Independent Schools Association of the Southwest) Arts Festival.

Attendees can sip Starbucks coffee and enjoy Common Bond pastries, as students and faculty showcase songs, creative writing readings, and more.

Upper School students and faculty who are interested in performing at Coffee House can sign-up via this Google Form. Acts may not exceed 5 minutes.
