SCREAM QUEENS
Tuesdays at 8p.m. on FX
Scream Queens is a kitschy chick-flick type horror show centering around fictitious sorority Kappa Kappa Tau (likely based on the real-life sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma, as there are striking similarities between the two sororities). The show follows a set of snobby, blonde, and occasionally murderous girls, while their sorority is being targeted by the elusive ‘red devil’ killer. As the sorority sisters are being picked off one by one, they must find the source of the killings and stop them. This shows deals with a range of issues including evil faculty members, lethal step-moms, and violent hazing.
VINYL
Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO
Created by Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger, this show perfectly encapsulates the infamous counter culture of 1970s New York by following the head of fictitious American Century Records, Richie Finestra. Finestra, most likely based on actual studio head Morris Levy of Roulette Records, navigates dealing with scorned lovers, desperate groupies, and difficult clients. Debauchery and revelry ensue as it follows various artists popular during the era— punk rockers, soul singers and fading country stars. Watch this if you love old music and a storyline that includes everything from murder and white-collar corruption, to romance and great music.
