It’s April, which means Kinkaid has been hosting its annual dodgeball tournament.
“It is a tradition that everyone looks forward to, and I am so glad we are able to add it to Field Day,” Director of Student Life and Engagement Mrs. Erica Baker said.
There are a total of 25 teams competing in this year’s tournament. The final round has been scheduled to be played on Field Day. The tournament is single elimination, so once teams lose a match, they are officially eliminated and will have to wait for next year to have a chance at victory.
“Creating the dodgeball tournament is actually more work than you would think, but I really enjoy it because I know the Kinkaid community likes to participate, and it is a fun part of Field Day when the finals are played,” senior Caroline Kubitza said.
Under the name of the Dodgefathers, last year’s winner is the team to beat.
“We are looking for revenge,” freshman Reed Altsuler, a member of the Seal Team 6 dodgeball competitor.
Last year’s Snype team Snype made it to the semifinals, but ultimately lost.
“I am excited because we are a very talented team, and it’s going to be a lot of fun,” junior Parker Chiles, a Snype team member.
The Big Baller Brand has entered the competition for the first time this year. Their team consists of all seniors and the all-time “best players,” according to senior Jack Susman.
“We have two players with tattoos showing we have the age and experience to go all the way,” Susman said.
This will be the Dodgefathers fourth year competing in the tournament and they hold the title of 2025 Dodgeball tournament champions.
“There’s not really any competition when it comes to our dodgeball team. I feel like we’re going to go back to back, and I am really confident about the team we have,” senior John Patrick Reckling said.
