Lux Café, the school’s new café, is its own little world. Tucked into a corner of campus, it buzzes with life and energy at nearly every hour of its daytime hours.
“It’s the first place I go when I need a pick-me-up between classes,” junior Maya Bernal said.
What strikes most students first is the cafe’s variety. The cooler inside it glows with rows of brightly colored drinks, from fruit juices to cans of fizzy beverages. Shelves there are stacked high with snacks, each one begging for attention; there are chips, candy bars, muffins, and cookies.
The space feels both modern and comfortable, with beige seats lined up neatly, wooden tables steady and familiar.
“There’s always something new to try, and it feels like a little break from the rest of the school,” Bernal said.
The café’s most defining feature is its aroma. The warm scent of freshly brewed coffee fills the air—rich yet never overpowering.
“Even if you don’t drink coffee, it just smells good in here,” freshman Meredith Walton said.
The sound adds to the atmosphere: the soft laughter from corner tables, the low hum of conversation, and the familiar hiss of the espresso machine.
“That sound is the best,” senior Kate St. Julian said. “It means my latte is almost ready.”
Iced coffee remains a top seller, with condensation clinging to cups that feel cold and refreshing in diners’ hands.
But the Lux Cafe’s muffins also claim a loyal following.
“The lemon poppy seed muffins are unbeatable,” sophomore Drewsie Willson said. “They taste homemade, and they’re perfect with an iced coffee.”
For many students and faculty and staff alike, the café is more than just a spot to grab food and drinks. It’s a pleasant pause in the day — a place where energy, warmth, connection, and comfort naturally come together.
