As the holiday season approaches, students have begun crafting their 2024 Christmas lists. However, these lists aren’t handwritten. Instead, they are online in Google Slides.
Senior Anna Cate Wynne said she likes to add links for her gifts per slide, so it takes her parents directly to the website for the items on her wish list.
To avoid being overwhelmed by the amount of links in the presentation, the links can be renamed to the title of the gift. This has helped ensure the correct gift is listed.
SLIDESGO has been a popular website that has allowed students to choose a decorative template for their slides.
“I love SLIDESGO because it has a lot of different and fun templates that are really seasonal,” senior Merrilee Macmane said.
To find a theme, all a shopper has to do is type the desired theme into the search bar. For example, if shoppers type “Christmas,” a variety of templates will pop up. To import the template, SLIDESGO grants its users permission to download a template directly into Google Slideshow with the click of a button.
Shoppers may organize their slideshow differently, but the most favored way for students has been to have one gift listed per slide, which includes a photo of the gift, a link, a size and color of the desired item.
Junior Olivia Utterback said she also creates a Google Slide Christmas list and shows an array of presents she would like.
“The thing that I most want from my slideshow is the camera because I love to take pictures whenever I’m hanging out with my friends,” Utterback shared.
On her slide, she wrote the name of each gift and accompanied it with a photo.
“I love my parents, but I feel like sometimes they need to just be told exactly what to get me and having a picture is really helpful,” senior Shelby Haskett expressed.
Having visuals has helped parents have a better understanding of the exact gift their children want.
