Chatter filled the air as the newest members of the Upper School experienced their first homecoming dinner.
The annual freshman homecoming dinner was held Sept. 28, the same day as the homecoming dance, at The Forest Country Club, which is about 10 minutes from Kinkaid.
Freshmen gathered with their peers, ate a catered meal and socialized with each other before heading to the homecoming dance in their dresses and suits.
“The 9th-grade dinner is important because it gives the 9th-grade class another opportunity to bond as a class,” said Ms. Erica Baker, director of student life and engagement. “It also gives them time to be away from their normal environment of school with all grades to bond as a class.”
Ms. Baker organized the dinner, which is only for 9th graders because it gives them time to bond as a class and not worry about other students in other grades, she said.
“My favorite part of the freshman dinner was the delicious food and salad, especially those rolls, I was surprised by how delectable it all was. I also had a fun time hanging with friends only in my grade,” freshman Faith Owodunni said.
The Forest Club was decorated with bright colors and table settings with floral decoration. The dinner included pasta, salad, chicken, rolls and dessert.
“I am a new student and going to the freshman dinner allowed me to meet new people I hadn’t met yet and socialize with them and my friends because this is my first year here at Kinkaid,” freshman Dylan Jett said.
As the night began to come to a close, the class of 2028 had full stomachs and new connections before their full homecoming experience.
