A year after its creation, the Talon TV legacy has continued.
Talon TV sent a shock wave throughout the student body when the video segment was first introduced last year by former Governing Council president Lindsey Karakowsy ‘24 and her vice president, Helena Heath ‘24. Maddy Billipp, the current GovCo president, and her vice president, Bennett Bowman, have kept it going.
Talon TV was created to air during the Upper School’s assemblies every Tuesday. The short video clips, which include music and entertainment, provide information to the student body. The information, ranging from sports to club events, rallies students to become involved on campus.
At random times, internet memes have been incorporated into the video clip to spark laughter among students, faculty, and staff in the audience.
“I appreciate Talon TV because it helps the student body remember upcoming events in a fun and entertaining way,” senior Merrilee Macmane said.
Junior William Adeniyi was recently asked to perform editing for Talon TV.
Adeniyi is a rising influencer who is specifically known for his Youtube channel, @williamadeniyi, through which he creates videos that consist of traveling and shopping content. He also uses GRWM, an abbreviation for Get Ready With Me, for specific videos that show his daily routines step by step.
“Whenever it comes to editing videos, that comes natural to me, and I really enjoy it,” Adeniyi stated, adding that he has the hopes of becoming an esteemed influencer beyond the Kinkaid community.
Bowman and Billipp said they plan to keep some of the activities from Talon TV’s first season, especially carpool karaoke.
Carpool karaoke was first aired with Mrs. Erica Baker, Upper School director of student life and engagement, as a special feature. This year, Billipp revealed there would be a new honored guest for the Oct. 1 assembly: Head of School Mr. Jonathan Eades.
Billipp said she is thinking of fresh ideas that may benefit the overall production.
“There are also plans to surprise the student body with new activities during assemblies, though specifics are not disclosed,” Billip said.
