Apparently, Saturn is all the rave among high school students.
While Upper School students are likely not sitting around discussing a planet, they have spoken highly about the new Saturn app they can download on their phones for their classes.
Saturn is a multipurpose app that allows students to manually enter their school schedules and view their class directories for each class period. Students have noted they greatly appreciate this feature as Veracross no longer provides students the opportunity to view who is in their classes.
“Saturn is the only way for us to actually see who’s in our classes. I’m a fan,” senior Sloane Thompson.
Another addition provided through the app is its built-in timer that aims to help students stay on schedule.
“As somebody who had 21 tardies last year, it’s definitely helped me keep on track of my classes,” senior Rob Hankamer said. “And they have this feature where it times between your classes and so it’s very beneficial to my schedule and making sure I arrive on time to class.”
The timer feature sends a notification to students’ home screen, notifying how much time they have until their first class begins. This may assist students with time management, especially those who have zero periods and seniors who go off of campus.
“I like how it tells how much time I have left before class,” senior Chloe Childress.
If students need to find their friends, Saturn allows those who have the app to see what classes they are in at that very moment. It can even show whether they are in math, history, science, or their free period.
A chat feature is also offered on the app. Similar to Instagram’s direct messaging, the chat allows users to send photos, texts, or funny GIFs to others. If a text is sent, it will send a notification to the recipient’s home screen.
Only the friends added on the app can see others’ whereabouts and if students no longer want their class information shared with someone, they can simply press an “unfriend” button.
Personal Saturn accounts can be linked to the owner’s other social media such as Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok.
