Fortnite, the ever-evolving gaming phenomenon, has once again taken the school by storm. With its latest nostalgia-inducing season, aptly named “Fortnite OG,” the game has brought back the classic elements that initially made it a sensation over five years ago, creating a buzz of excitement around campus.
The starting point for Fortnite OG is Chapter 1: Season 5, a trip down memory lane for longtime fans. Tilted Towers, once destroyed in 2019, has risen from the virtual ashes, accompanied by the return of iconic weapons such as the pump shotgun, assault rifle, and hunting rifle. Fan-favorite vehicles like the shopping cart are also back in action, allowing players to relive the early days of the battle royale adventure.
The new season has also provided a chance for students to reconnect with old friends.
“As soon as I saw the news, I texted my old squad, and we were all so excited to hop on and goof around like the old days,” junior Ian Overman said. “It’s been so fun to relive old memories with my elementary school friends and just hang out after school, even if we instantly die to sweats.”
As students eagerly embrace Fortnite OG, the virtual landscapes of Pleasant Park and Salty Springs have become an environment for community connection. The return of classic elements from Fortnite’s history has created a shared experience that bridges the gap between new and seasoned players, fostering a sense of community within our school.
